This Louet Classic S10 Scotch Tension Single Treadle Spinning Wheel comes with 3 bobbins, flyer with sliding hooks and Lazy Kate Rack. The first generation Louët spinning wheels, like the S10 and S17, all have a single belt bobbin drive with an adjustable flyer brake to regulate tension. This results in spinning wheels that are very easy to learn how to spin on, and also very suitable to spin thicker yarns. Sturdily constructed of lacquered solid beech and laminated birch, it is also suitable for production spinners. The single hole in the wheel leads to a balanced flywheel, which ensures, that the wheel always stops in the place where you stop. The bobbins have a sheave with three settings that can be used to obtain three spinning speeds or ratios. By using different types of bobbins and flyers, Louët spinning wheels can be used to produce every kind of yarn, from coarse wool to fine silks. Each wheel comes equipped with a two bobbin lazy kate. A High Speed Set is also available for this wheel for easier spinning of very fine yarns. Finally, an excellent spinning wheel must turn freely and quietly. Accordingly Louet uses maintenance-free ball bearings in the main hub and at the footman connection. (No lubrication is required). The spinning wheels are disassembled to the extent that they can be packed flat and shipped economically. The assembly consists of tightening two nuts for which tools and instructions are included.
The S10 is Loüet's original spinning wheel. Since its inception (almost 50 years ago), the S10 has received many small improvements. Now the spinning wheel has undergone a great metamorphosis; you can design your favourite S10C by choosing a single or double treadle, and Irish or Scotch tension braking. Then you choose the look of the flywheel: the classic S10 wheel, the Julia wheel with three spokes or the new wheel with five spokes. Finally choose your flyer and bobbins and other accessories.
In all its versions, the S10 Concept can be easily disassembled and thus fits in the bag that you can order as an accessory.
After you have had your S10C for a while, you may want to add additional accessories: you can change from single to double treadle (or vice versa), a different fly wheel or a different drive? Do you want to spin with Scotch tension and twine with Irish tension? Then all you have to do is change the head of your spinning wheel with flight and reel! The new S10C spinning wheel makes a lot possible; you can of course also put together the classic S10, the S10 DT and the S11 Julia.
